Homeo Porn

I have a little gadget attached to this blog called Sitemeter. It's a free application that gives you the basic stats for your blog - number of visitors, where they are located, how long they stayed, and so on. (Don't worry, it only gives a general location, such as 'London', not '3, The Cuttings, East Cheam'.) One of the more amusing things to see is when people come to the blog from a Google search, because it tells you what their search terms were.

Today, I had a visitor from Bucharest. He (I assume it is a he) had arrived at this page, having searched in Google.ro for 'homeo porn'.

I hope he found what he was looking for. But I doubt it.

  1. I'm probably showing as the dirty old man from Wilsmlow.

How do you install this site meter thing? I tried something a long time ago but some payment was required.

  2. Ah yes, Wilmslow keeps coming up - I think I knew that was you anyway.

Just go to the sitemeter main site (http://www.sitemeter.com/) and sign up to Site Meter Basic - totally free. There's a sign-up procedure and some code to put in the html of your blog, but the instructions are easy to follow.

Let me know if you install it, as I would love to know what I appear as. I think it records my visits (before I had learned how to ignore my own) as somewhere 194 miles away, so I don't think it's all that accurate. I suspect it logs the ISP location rather than the user's.

  3. Thanks - Now installed!

I'd better start tagging my blogs with suitable suggestive engineering terms such as thrust trunnion, captive nut etc etc.
